What We're Building (Lead Capture System)
- Lead Capture System = A system that captures potential customer information and responds automatically.
- How It Works:
- 1. Customer fills a contact form on website
- 2. Their info saves to Google Sheets automatically
- 3. They receive a personalized thank-you email INSTANTLY
- 4. Business owner gets notified of new lead
- Why This Matters:
- • Businesses that respond in 5 minutes are 100x more likely to close the sale
- • Most businesses take 24-48 hours to respond
- • Your automation responds in 5 SECONDS
- What You Can Charge:
- • Simple version: $100-$300
- • With integrations: $300-$800
Step 1: Create the Form
- Creating Your Google Form:
- 1. Go to forms.new (creates new form)
- 2. Add fields: Name, Email, Phone, Message
- 3. Click 'Responses' tab
- 4. Click the green Sheets icon (creates linked sheet)
- What Happens:
- • Every form submission creates a new row in your sheet
- • This is your 'database' of leads
- Pro Tip: The timestamp is added automatically by the form
Step 2: The Email Script (Explained)
- The Code:
- function sendThankYouEmail(e) {
- var name = e.values[1];
- var email = e.values[2];
- var subject = 'Thank You!';
- var body = 'Hi ' + name + ', we received your message!';
- MailApp.sendEmail(email, subject, body);
- }
- Line by Line Explanation:
- • function: Creates a named action
- • e.values: Gets data from the form submission
- • e.values[1]: Gets the first answer (Name)
- • MailApp.sendEmail: Google's email sending function
- You don't need to memorize this! Ask AI to write and modify it for you.
Step 3: Setting the Trigger
- Connecting Script to Form:
- 1. In Apps Script, click the clock icon (Triggers)
- 2. Click 'Add Trigger'
- 3. Settings:
- – Function: sendThankYouEmail
- – Event source: From spreadsheet
- – Event type: On form submit
- 4. Save
- What This Does:
- • Every time someone submits the form
- • The script runs automatically
- • Email sent in less than 5 seconds
- Testing:
- • Submit a test form with YOUR email
- • Check if you received the thank-you email
- • If not, check 'Executions' tab for errors
